T1D Oral Health Foundation

Making Oral Health Part of Type 1 Diabetes Care

People living with type 1 diabetes — from toddlers to seniors — face dental and oral health risks that often get missed, simply because this topic rarely comes up at the endocrinologist's office or at the dental practice. Blood sugar swings, treating low blood sugar, immune system changes, and dry mouth can all affect dental health, yet most patients and families are never told this.

The T1D Oral Health Foundation exists to close that gap by:

Education - practical, evidence-based guidance for patients, caregivers, and the dental and medical teams who treat all persons with Type 1 Diabetes.

Awareness - bringing the connection between type 1 diabetes and oral health into everyday conversation.

Advocacy - working with dental societies, medical organizations, and policymakers so oral health is recognized as part of T1D care.
